Unlike other new moons, Scorpio new moon is intense. It is a time for deep, psychological work within, getting to the bottom of our vulnerability and power. And this new moon is also an eclipse. So they are highly charged New Moons, aka the cosmic crossroads and tornados. They bring up special events that take us in a whole new direction. it's destablizing.

This New Moon Solar eclipse occurs at 2˚ Scorpio on October 25, 2022, at 6:49 pm HKT.

Venus is a big player for this solar eclipse and brings up the relationship topics. Venus is the planet of love, attraction, and how we show up for ourselves, people, and our likes and dislikes. Venus in Scorpio isn't about the cute, vanilla, surface-level love, but the depth of our emotional truth. The kind of love that transcends and transforms, where we go to get in touch with our raw and authentic selves through our relationships, sexuality, and intimacy. It is not for the faint of heart.

On top of that, Pluto in Capricorn forms an out-of-sign square to them (Sun, Moon, Venus) and Mercury in Libra. That's a complicated affair. It can trigger power struggles, obsessive feelings, thinking, and survival of identity. You want to assert control or break ties with them. It activated the fight or flight in us because with a square with Pluto, we feel like we have to act. Because our compulsion tells us EVERYTHING about this situation hurts.

Like the weather, some things we just don't have control over. And don't even try it with Pluto. The key here is to identify what you have no control over (other people's opinions and actions and probably a bunch of other things.) and what you can control (your action, reaction, agency, and the role you play in the wicked world). By changing your responses, you are letting yourself off the hook.

New Moons are seeds; they bring new awareness and opportunities to us. For an eclipse to play out, it usually takes six months. It may be destabilizing time but whatever comes up is an opening opportunity to heal and transform ourselves. While it may be unclear at this moment because Mars in Gemini forms a square to Neptune, you may feel tired and anxious. And instead of feeling them, we tend to want to escape. It's okay if you know your need to escape, we all do that occasionally. So give yourself that time, watch a movie, read a fantasy book, play music, go for a walk, or do something gentle. This is not a time for drugs, even the "spiritual enhancing" kind. It can trigger more anxiety. It isn't great for the immune system, either. I know how we think Covid is over, but be careful.

However, this is a great time to reconsider our action and how it has served our values. We started the year with a Venus Retrograde, ending the year with Mars retrograde (Mars Rx on October 30 and turns direct on January 12, 2023). It is a reminder for us that we not only need to claim our values and also act according to them. What do we value? What are we willing to let go?

The astrology of October and November is intense. If you feel like you need help, seek help. There is no shame in seeking help. We don't have to do it all alone. And if you are in a position to offer support, please help. We are in this together. There is a lot of potential for healing here. While our truth may not be pretty, it is honest, and it is where we must go to reclaim our power.

**PS: Eclipses are powerful energies; they are wildcards. So it is unwise to do any manifestation work. It's like planting seeds in the middle of a storm — it's safer to wait it out.
